The biggest poetry event in Košice! Three evenings filled with poetry / concerts / films / workshops, which will surely capture your attention. Local and foreign guests. Oskar Rózsa, Tobiáš Jirous, the Milčák brothers, Jana Bodnárová, Michal Habaj, Ján Šimko and many others. All free of charge!
From November 4 to November 6, Kasárne/Kulturbark will become home to an international poetry festival – CASSOVIA POETRY. The festival is not just about mindless reading – on the contrary: it combines contemporary poetry with other forms of art, be it music or film.
While originally based in Bratislava, this year the festival expanded to Košice as well, bringing three days of contemporary poetry performed by personalities in the likes of Valerij Kupka (SK), Bartolomiej Majzel (PL), Orsolya Krafiáth (HU), Brian McCabe (UK), Ján Gavura (SK), Fred Griot (FR), Michal Habaj (SK), Krzysztof Siwczyk (PL) and many others.
The festival program is kicked off on Thursday, November 4, by a screening of the film Little Mad Robinson at Kasárne/Kulturpark, an art center and the "base" of the whole festival. We will also present feature length, experimental and animated film, as well as concerts by independent musical groups and artists such as Hvozd (underground chanson from the meadows and woods near Bratislava), Márnivé bubliny (Oskar Rózsa, Lucia Rózsa Hurajová, Marek Majeský) and DJ Tobiáš Jirous.
The program also includes a rich selection of related events such as lectures, round table discussions and workshops on creative writing, theatre and other subjects lead by Ján Šimko, Mila Haugová, Marián Andričík, Valerij Kupka, which will all take place either at Kasárne/Kulturpark or at the UPJŠ Faculty of Arts on Petzvalova Street in Košice.
Festival goers can thus expect three evenings richly filled with poetry, concerts, films and workshops. Admission is free to all festival events.
