Valentina Colonna
Valentina Colonna is an Italian poet, pianist and researcher. Born in Turin, she lives in Spain, in Granada. She has published three books of poetry, including La cadenza sospesa (Aragno, 2015, preface by Davide Rondoni), published in Argentina by Buenos Aires Poetry in 2020 (translated by Mario Chávez Carmona) and Stanze di città e altri viaggi (Aragno, 2019, preface by Aleš Šteger).
The monographic issue of Secolo Donna Almanac of Italian Poetry 2021 was dedicated to her (edited by Bonifacio Vincenzi, Macabor) with 10 contributions on her poetry. Translated in sixteen countries, her poems have appeared in prestigious national and international venues. The major Italian press have spoken about her poetry, and she has been a guest at various international festivals in 10 countries. She is a PhD (Doctor Europaeus) in Digital Humanities (Linguistics) from the Universities of Genoa and Turin and she conceived and directs the Voices of Italian Poets (VIP) project at the University of Turin’s Experimental Phonetics Laboratory.
She is currently European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Granada and PI of the project Voices of Spanish Poets (VSP). After her master in piano, she specialised in the baroque repertoire at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona, where, in collaboration with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), she obtained a university master’s degree in Early Music Interpretation. She has released 3 singles with his own piano compositions and an album for piano and poetry, PianoPoetry. Resonances (NCM/Egea/Machiavelli). As a translator, she edited the first Italian anthology of the poet Ángeles Mora, funded by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E). She has also collaborated on the music programmes of Radio Vaticana.
